elusive 700R4 leak

I just had a 700R4 installed in my big block Nova. The problem is that I have a leak that cannot be found so far. Up on the rack, there is no evidence of any leak. I can drive the car, park it and nothing leaks until it sets for several hours. I checked under the car after 5 hours and no leak, but the next morning there was a puddle under the car. Seems as if it is pressure related? Any ideas would be appreciated!

Had a similar problem,it was where the TV cable goes ito the box.
It is possible to fit a new grommet in situ but awkward.

I vote for the tv cable or your dipstick myself. Won't leak right after running since the oil level will be below that area but when it sits then your level rises in the pan from drain back and it starts to leak.

Thanks for the tips. Makes sense if the converter is draining back down into the pan after sitting for a few hours. My guess it is most likely the tv grommet. I can see the filler tube grommet and it looks dry.

If you do it while the trans is in the car you´ll need a length of
wire to hold the TV mechanism when you disengage the cable. It must then hold it while you swap the grommet. The Camaro has very little space to do this, what´s your vehicle?

69 Nova, large tube Hooker headers. I bet you are correct about not being too much room to do this. I was under the car yesterday and did not have much access to anything. Between the tight fit between the frame and the headers about the only thing you can reach is the bottom of the pan! I'll end up taking it back to the installer for sure.

700 R Leak

I just put a Bowtie built 700R in my 57 Nomad. Steve at Bowtie included a Lokar filler tube with the transmission. I had an oil leak as you described. A phone call to Bowtie confirmed the Lokar was not sealed where the stainless wire wrap fits into the machined aluminum part that fits into the transmission. Bowtie recommended a Gotta Show brand filler tube. Guaranteed not to leak. I can say they do not leak. It solved my 700R4 leak

I got it fixed. It was the grommet on the TV cable. The cable is a tight fit through the grommet and kept pulling it out. We had to fabricate a sort of clamp to hold it in. No more leaks!
Thanks for all the replys.
