Emblem masking

I am going to paint the fuel door for a '67 Corvette. The crossed flags are part of the door and must be masked before painting fuel door same color as car. Any tips on best way to mask flags are greatly appreciated.

I'm trying to remember my 64s gas cap, it was probably the same. The gas door is pot metal as I remember, and the emblem was not "part of it" but simply not removable because it was swedged in or something. I say remove it, and then reattach it with adhesive or some other way after painting.

But I may be wrong and the thing is cast right along with the door and in that case, forget that idea. Can you post a close up picture? I would bet a good way to do it would be to lay the tape right over the top and then cut it out with a nice sharp razor.

BarryK has and has had a TON of Vettes, PM him and he will certainly have an idea.

Emblem masking

Thanks for getting back to me Brian. Have attached pic of new fuel door. Flags are cast w/ door so there's no removing them. Taping, then cutting may be best way to address this. Any suggestions on best tape to use - been using the blue or green painters tape.

Thanks,

Greg B
