Empire State Building thought to cause "automotive Bermuda Triangle"

Saw this NY Daily News piece on BoingBoing. They're reporting that cars are mysteriously stalling in a 5-block radius around the Empire State Building.

Quote:
We get about 10 to 15 cars stuck near there every day,” said Isaac Leviev, manager of Citywide Towing, the AAA’s exclusive roadside assistance provider from 42nd St. to the Battery. “You pull the car four or five blocks to the west or east and the car starts right up.”

I know there was a plane in the 40s that didn't think much of that building,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

The picture shows more of a Manhatten Circle than a triangle..........but mysterious none the less.

I saw that too this morning. Probably some super secret plasma beam being tested by the govt on unsuspecting motorists.

I recall back in the 70's when the first breakerless ignitions came out. I think it was VW that had it the worst. A trucker could pull up behind them and if he had enough power (linier amp) on his CB, he could key the mike and shut down the engine.

'Ber-motor Triangle'

Taxi radios set off the car alarms around my way - could be something similar.

Or maybe the aliens are already here...

I totally believe it's plausible, no voo doo required. I installed a remote start on my wifes Focus. There is an electromagnetic coil (or some kind of gadget) ring around the ignition switch. When the key is inserted into the ignition, the coil ring induces current into the chip in the key so it will give off a signal back thats picked up by the ring. If it gets no signal or the wrong signal, it won't start. The remote start required a little transmitter you place next to the ignition switch. You program it to the key frequency so that the key doesn't need to be in to start. I could see some kind of EM field messing that up no problem. Thats probably why you can drive by the ESB and have no problem, but when you stop and try to restart, it can't get a clean signal and won't start.
