End of an era

American Racing moved its auto-wheel production to Mexico, ending most of
its 47-year operation in California.

Companies are doing a mass exodus from the Golden State.

Some notables leaving the state; Apple Computer, Automobile Club of Southern California, Buck Knives, CalPortland Cement, California Casualty Group, California Casualty Group, Checks To-Go, Creators Syndicate, Dassault Falcon, Denny's Corp., Digital Domain, the Academy-Award-winning visual effects studio, DuPont Fabros Technology, eBay, EDMO Distributors, Inc., a world-wide wholesaler of aircraft avionics, EMRISE Corp., Facebook, FallLine Corporation, First American Corp., Fluor Corp., Foxconn Electronics, Gregg Industries, Helix Wind Inc., Hilton Hotels Corp., Hino Motor Manufacturing USA, Intel Corporation expanding to other states, Intuit, J.C. Penney, Klaussner Home Furnishings, Kulicke & Soffa Industries Inc., LCF Enterprises, Lennox Hearth Products Inc., Lyn-Tron, Inc., a supplier of electronic hardware, Mariah Power, a "green" manufacturer of small wind turbines, Maxwell America, a boating equipment maker, MiaSol, MotorVac Technologies, Nissan North America, Northrop Grumman, Patmont Motor Werks, Inc. (GoPed manufacturer), Paragon Relocation Resources, Pixel Magic (digital movie effects), Plastic Model Engineering, Inc., a custom plastic injection molder and mold manufacturer, Premier Inc., the largest healthcare alliance in the nation, Pro Cal, Red Truck Fire & Safety Company, SAIC, Scale Computing, a data-storage developer, Schott Solar Inc., SimpleTech, Smiley Industries, an aerospace manufacturer, Solaicx, SolarWorld, Special Devices Inc., Stasis Engineering, StarKist headquarters, Stata Corp., which specializes in data analysis and statistical software, Tapmatic, a metalworking firm, Teledesic, Telmar Network Technology Inc., Terremark, Terumo Cardiovascular Systems, Toyota, True Games Interactive Inc., TTM Technologies, Twentieth Century Props, Understand.com, US Airways, US Press, USAA Insurance, Yahoo!.

This is only a partial list but gives a flavor of the rabid anti-business climate here. Pretty funny that a bunch of the companies in the list are 'green', entertainment, and others that have actively promoted a Socialist agenda here.

What is sad is many of these companies are ran out because of the stiff regulations concerning polution, they then move to a country where they CRAP on the earth. Just what did the tree hugger gain?

Amen,Amen.. Michigan has gone from a large industrial base to a welfare state. My business area has a true unemployment rate just under 30%... Thousands of vacant houses/business even with the urban development ( firebugs/street) people burning/dozing hundreds per month..

I have also heard that Edelbrock has been sold to a group of German venture capitalists-not sure if Vic retained any ownership or not. Rumor is that he bought back the shares he had sold (all of them), and then the Economy tanked, so he had to sell-sad if true-

Very sad but looks like NAFTA & Out-sourcing is working just like it was supposed to. I could tell you horror stories about the numbers of jobs lost in the computer manufacturing industry.

My point there was those folks lobbied and campaigned for all the increased tax and regulation then, once they got what they wanted, found it too oppressive and moved to a state w/ more lax requirements. One would think they will crap less than the rest of us unwashed masses in their new homes.
