Red face The end of my Gremlin

Well All.
I have a fella coming tommorow to check out my Gremlin. I havent mentioned it before because I was unshure what to do, but I think with all going on financially I must do it. Its not that I have to sell, but that I wont be able to build it the way I want for another 3 years or so.
If I get enuff I may buy a rail or something running to goof off in, but Im not for sure.
I will get another hot rod again, but after my better half gets thru her college. Wish me luck. I am very sad, but Ive tossed n turned on this for some time and I think I must do it. I'll let ya know. Cya all, HG

Hemmie give me a call when he gets there, we can put him through the old "I've got a guy on the phone that will pay $1000 more than you" scam.

You know what, you gotta do what you gotta do. If it will help get your wife through college it's worth it.

Nooooooooooooo, Let it sit. At least when you can afford to get to it the car will still be there.

If you have to, you have to. I wouldn't sell it 'cause I can't do anything with it right away. Then again I ain't in your shoes. I hope all goes well for you.

If you sell now how much do think it will cost to build anything in 3 years, 30-40 % more?

Well He is 20 minutes away!
My old lady if all goes well and she graduates will increase our yearly income by around 60+ thousand, so I think I can find another Gremmie when its time.
Its still sad, but it will work out. HG

Well.
the guy came and his car didnt sell, so he is going to try to sell his, then get back with me. Its still here. HG

Hemmi,,,, some times there are more important things in life than a personal item,, family ALWAYS comes first, now if you were as old as I am, you would definately have to keep it cuz there wouldn't be enough time left to get this far on another one,

Hopefully your wife can use her education to get a good paying job, when she graduates,, then you can afford to possably build one like you want, at least you know that you have contribuated to the cause, Good luck, if the buyers car don't sell then you are off the hook,, RIGHT????, Bill

I had a simular situation a while back - I had to move to an appartment and there was no way to work on the car - it was against the appartment rules and I didn't have any other place to keep it. Then, I bought a little pickup to drive around and the chevy was just sitting there. Then, it needed minor work (brake shoes) to pass state inspection. The thought of selling it came across my mind, but I didn't need the money. So, it sat. I didn't sell it because I decided that if I did, I would have great regret afterwards. Along came a girlfriend, she pressured me alot to sell it, but I figured, I've had this car since 1991, and you've been around how long...?

After 3 years, I still had the car and bought a house [and the girlfriend was gone]. I hired a tow truck to move the chevy (still no brakes!). Met a nice girl, got married. And it sat another year before I started getting it in gear. Of course juggling time was difficult, after all my car doesn't care if I give it attention, but my wife certainly does! The car is now good to go (again), after all this time.

Still trying to figure out the words to the 'Ladies "Old Appartment"...

I guess you just need to decide for yourself and figure out if it's something that you'll regret later. If you don't need the $, then let it sit - you may even find you will occasionally have the time and resources to do some things with it. Remember that later on, if it's a Gremlin you want, it will probably cost more to get one as well as to fix it up.

Just my advice, estimated worth = $0!

You obviously can't keep your handle now. With the compromises you have made, you should now call yourself SBCQuiter! JK. I have been a victim of real life many times and it is still painful but necessary.

Im not going to push the sale of it, but if it happens, then it happens. Its not that we need the money as much as we need something to drive now and the money from it will buy our new wheels.
If itv sells I can get another ride, but it must be something that runs now! If I just could find a cheap engine.......... Im thinking. HG

Hemmi, I was looking hard for you,
heres the only thing I found: I was hoping to find a classifieds with an engine, or even a low budget car so you wouldn't have to sell you rod. The funny thing is none of these are in your home town, whats the deal?.

hey HG, don't sweat it do what you think is right.if you do sell it take the time to slowly accumulate your shop equipment and improve (or build) your work space that way when your ready to dive back in you'll have what you need.

good luck and i wish you the best.

i've had my chevy for over 6 years and i haven't done much to it for the last 5, its only know that i'll have the resources to jump back into it. and i can tell you it's been worth the wait.
