Eng Hp 1978 350 vete engine

How much HP would I be getting from my 1978 vete 350 chev eng.the bottom end is stock but it has 202 heads straight plug, headers ,650 holly carb ?

What manifold do you have,what 202s do you have,is the cam still original?

I had that same setup in my 78 Impala station wagon man... It had 178hp.

i'd have to agree, my 75 in its stock form was a real dog out of the hole, it was 165 h.p.
a 460 lift cam, headers, 2 1/2" exhaust,weiand excellerator intake , holley 680 d.p. msd ignition. it is only 1.95 / 1.6 valves though. the best guess i got for those mods was 325 h.p. max.mike

The highest stock specs were 185 hp for 1978. Emissions killed the HP output on the SBC in the 70's. My 1974 350 Vet only has 8.5:1 CR and that all by it's self limits the amount of HP it can make. Closed chamber heads will boost compression and everything else with help but your still limited.
