Go here to get lots of infromation on the pontiacs,,

The 428 codes are 360 hp auto is WG
360 hp manual is YH
390hp manual is WJ
390 hp auto is YK which is also the code for the 428 HO with the good # 16 heads,, the head # is under the valve cover , ther are other codes also that designate the type carb,, and compression ratio,,but the 2 br carb only came out on the 400 cubic and smaller engines, all 428 had 4 br carbs,

Do you know what model car the motor came out of?? bonneville GP ETC
My 69 bonney has a YK 390 HO in it and it loves to go fast and drink lots of gas,, and only spiked premium at that,,

i have the other codes if you want them,, Bill

The block was cast October 10, 1968 for the '69 model year. The 2 letter code off of the front of the left cylinder bank will tell what engine it is.
