Engine builders: What would it BE??

I have two question: What would this engine be? What kind of performance would it make?

Let's take a 396 block std bore and use a 4.25 stroker crank and 6.385 rods(.250 longer than stock) no pistons and cam. But do have access to the stock heads(396)

Would this combination be worth the trouble of building for a street car. These are some items I have around the shop. Or should I just get a 454 block and go from there.

I believe, due to the value of an original 396, I would search for a 454 core to start out with. You can buy complete 454s for around 500.00, and that would just let you have more cubic inches anyway. You could sell the 396 to someone who needs it, or trade for a 454.

Not something you could build on a budget, the pistons would have to be custom made, you are looking at over $900.00 just for them.
