engine casting numbers

Hello, I have been looking around the engine to see what year it is but the numbers i have found aren't in the mortec site. Its a small block chevy engine The numbers i have found are 8436572=drivers side cylinder head
8988920=passenger side cylinder
8486572= Intake beside firing order.
If someone could help me out I would be greatly apreciated, getting ready to buy new performance parts.
Thank you

,cody

or if i just post a picture up would you be able to tell what age it is, 70,80's

The 8436572 you found is part of the firing order. The casting number you need to determine what engine you have is on the right side of the block, rear, behind the cylinder head. The number faces upward, and is usually under a GM cast into the block.

This isn`t confirming anything though as this is just a cylinder head casting number, the block could still be anything since chevy parts interchange.
