Engine cleaner

What's a good engine cleaner to use with aluminum? I just found out the hard way that I used a cleaner I shouldn't have. What took probably 20+ hours to clean and polish just "sprayed" off in 10 seconds.

You have to watch as most aluminum cleaners are an acid etching cleaner. I have used ESPREE wheel cleaner on polished aluminum valve covers but they dulled some. It did remove the grease and oil nicely, but I put some time on the buffer to get the shine back.

I use a product called "Sea Wash", but you don't want to let it soak long enough to allow any drying on aluminum. I spray it on and let it soak about as long as it takes me to crank up the pressure washer for the tough spots. If it is a relatively clean motor, I just turn the water hose on it. I do use this on my wheels as well and it is a good tire cleaner also.
