Well for starts that casting number was used for 302, 327 and 350 engines. All 327`s were 2 bolt blocks, as were some 350`s. What you need is the suffix code which will be on the passengers side deck of the block. Right behind where the alternator sits. It will be on the blocks deck on the extended pad. the suffix code will look like this example: V0101CLJ. You can also find the year of the block by looking at the date code which will be on the rear mounting flange near the casting number. It will look like this example: B 5 8 B would indicate the month of Feb. The 5 would mean the 5th, and the 8 could mean 1968 or 1978. How do you tell if it`s a 2 or 4 bolt main? remove the pan. We can learn the most by the suffix code, it will tell us what cubic inches and what vehicle it came out of.
