Engine compartment lighting

I'm finishing up a '48 Chevy hotrod that i plan on showing. I want to maximize the lighting under the hood. Any suggestions on where i can find some LED or flourescent "under hood" lights?

top decent google search brought me shopwiki.com with 67 results but Im sure your local parts store will have an aftermarket catalog with the same stuff and no shipping costs.

try this place I bought some of there colored replacement and the bright white ones on a cord ( they are bluish tint but bright !!! ) for the inside of the bed of my truck . I flip the switch for the cargo light and the whole bed lights up under the rails on both sides .there cost is cheaper andthe quality is better than some places I have delt with

Something that you might be able to use is some cold-cathode lights (CCFL or CCD). They're kinda like fluorescents (being tubular in shape), but they are a lot smaller, come in different lengths (4", 12", and/or 20" being common), and also come in different colors so you might be able to color-match to your paint if so inclined.

Easiest place to get these believe it or not would be your local computer store - they're used as case and computer lighting in the gaming and tricked-out computers now-a-days, and these are already setup for 12V. They're also cheap!

I don't know if they would stand up to the rigors of an engine compartment though, but I am planning on using 'em as footwell lighting in the interior of my vehicles. I hadn't thought of using 'em in the engine compartment, but thanks for the idea
