the 1981 camaro I purchased, the seller told me he thought the engine was a 267 but after all kinds of inspection it seems to me this is a larger engine, with the proper tuning it has alot of kick, also it appears to big for a 267.I have been fooled before when some guy told me the firebird I was buying had a 305 but after tearing it down discovered it was a 350 that he had abused. My question is how can I tell exactly what size my engine is or even a rough idea.
thanks for the response, but I should have also added that this is a rebuilt engine and may not be the original.Any further info would be greatly appreciated.
The casting number is located behind the drivers side cylinder head on the bellhousing flange. It's hard to see in the car but you might be able to read it with a flashlight and a mirror.
Also, you probably wouldnt be able to tell a 267 from a 305 just by looking at it. People confuse small blocks all the time because most of them look so much alike.
i guess ya do learn somethin new every day. i sure as hell didnt know it came with a 267... lol. wow, 115 horse....
