Engine design school

Want to dream? How about the CE short course that University of Wisconsin, Madison is offering "Internal Combustion Engines", Nov 3-7. Topics include,

Kinematics of Engines
Overview of vibration
Rotating forces and couples
Reciprocating forces
Multi-cylinder engine balance
Engine balance calculations
Fillet design and durability validation
Nose and flange design
Torsional vibration
Connecting rods

Valve train design overview
Valve lobe design
System dynamics and governing equations
Valve train design details
Ball and socket joints and loads
Lubrication and wear
Valve temperature control

Cylinder block and head design
Materials and processing
Block layout and critical dimensions
Block design features and options
Cylinder head layout
Port and valve design and air handling
Structural analysis
Further considerations and design trends

Engine cooling and thermal loads
Thermal loading
Cooling jacket design
Engine cooling system requirements
Engine cooling system development
Advanced cooling concepts

Engine lubrication, bearings, and rings
Lubrication and wear
Lubrication system and components
Bearing design and analysis
Bearing materials and validation
Piston rings and cylinder

Of course there are a bunch of very enticing subtitles I didn't type in. Cost is only $1695 for the entire course or you can take one or more of the modules for from $545 to $895.

Like I said, we can dream can't we?

Did I read that right, Nov 3-7? Sounds like a cram course to me. Would be interesting to go, but a little out of my price range, unless of course they forgot some decimal points somewhere.
