Engine Family

I Don't Know if this has been asked before. I could not find the info I needed in other threads. What engine family does The 351W Fall into. I am putting one in a 64 Ford F100 and have been looking at catalogs for parts and found a cross member that can be used to mount FE family engines into the truck and was wanting to know if this would work for my Windsor.

That link has some good information. The 351W is classed in with the small block ford (sbf) family shown as the 90 degree family shown on the link. I did notice they forget (or maybe chose to forget) the laughable 255 built in the early 80's for a couple years.

For what you are doing, any 289/302/351 mount will work. FE mounts are different. So are 351/400 "M" motors. (learned that one the hard way) Speedway motors has a crossmember for that for about 55.00. here's a link:

Thank You You saved me about sixty dollars with that link and info. I had found one in Dennis carpenter for $75 and the mounts were like $83. I appreciate saving money and due to lack of fabrication skills find that this route is easier. Once again thank all of you for the info.
