engine id

I just bought an engine to replace the way over built engine from 1972, I would like to drive my mustang on the street, I get differant answers from ford and on line, so I would really apr. any knowlege that members have, the numers on the block are D2OE-6015-AB, thanks for any help Cliff from Calif

Engine Id

The engine D2OE-6015-AB decoded is D= Decade 70's, 2= year of the decade 72, O= model design Fairlane (all) & Torino 1967-1976, E= engineered component engine group, 6015= basic part number engine base asembly. See this website for decoding Ford part numbers Decoding Ford casting part numbers

Thanks for the info , i went on the site a few weeks ago but that number was not listed,Ifound all the other engines that I got with this D2OE , they were all listed and what engine they were I was told this was a 351W, but I think it is a 302, I will drop the pan to see what crank is in it,
