Engine Id numbers
2 Attachment(s)
Anybody willing to help with ID'ing the engine that has this partial VIN & engine code stamped into the front right pad?
Cannont get it narrowed down to one fairly positive answer. So far, research on the engine number has show as posibilities: 65 Chevy full size 67 Vette 69 Camaro, Chevelle or Nova. The partial VIN is of no use as nothing I have found has the double "LL" before the unit production number. Only thing I am certain about is that whatever this was, there were 32205 made before it! The block casting #3858180 Head casting #3890462 Also, the end of each head has what looks like a plug or insert of some type, I have never seen anything like this either, any idea what those are?? Thanks, Dennis |
The "plug" on the end of the heads is actually a glued on tag that is intended to melt and fall off should the owner overheat his engine following a rebuild. If the tag is off following engine problems, the rebuilder will void the warranty claiming abuse.
