Post Engine identification

I recently bought a 1928 Ford and I am trying to find out what engine, trans and heads it has. All I know is that it is a 283 Chevy with a 4 speed. I assume that it is pre 69 since it still has the old cannister oil filter and points distributor. Any body know how I can find out by the serial numbers on them? <img src="confused.gif" border="0">

Yes Mortec tells me that I have a 1964-1966 283 either 195 HP or 220 HP. I'm still trying to find out what heads are on it. They have a triangle on the end of the heads. I know that double hump heads have 2.02 valves. Anyone know what heads these are.
Thanks again

Heads are probably 520's used on early powerpack and other four barrel engines. Later used on all 283 through 1967. They have standard valves unless someone has changed them. 1.72 intakes and 1.50 exhaust. Triangle should sit on a long rectangle and be centered. Check casting number and date under valve covers. Hope this helps.

Twoteam is right. They're the so-called "power pack" heads, #520, #896, etc. They have small chambers (58 to 60cc) with the small valves, unless someone has tinked with them. They're good heavy heads but they don't breath as well as some of the later 64cc heads, #461, #462, #186, etc.
