Engine Identification

Hi my name is Jaime. I live in Houston, Texas. I own a 1968 Chevy C-10 pick-up truck.

I currently have a 350 engine small block and a Turbo Hydromatic 700 4 gear transmission.

I need to identify my engine year to properly service it and/or order parts for it. The engine is not what my 68 Chevy came with. The engine block is engraved with A-379 and the gas pump housing is engraved with 39. Anybody's experienced comments, suggestions and/or advice is greatly appreciated.

What's the number cast into the trans mounting flange behind the left side head? Or the No on the deck pad behind the alternator in front of the head. The First is the easiest.
