Engine Identification

I have a 72 chevelle but I cant figure out what motor is in it. where would I find the casting number to identify the motor I found one number [K0714TXB] but I don't think this is the right number to identify what size motor this is

look on the back of the block by where you would bolt the transmission up. There will be a set of numbers there those numbers will be able to tell you what type of motor you have. Take those numbers and go to www.mortec.com and you can look it up

The casting number is located on top of the bellhousing flange on the drivers side at the back of the block.

K0714TXB Engine code says it was built in St Catherines, Ontario Canada on July 14, 1975 for C20-3500 series pickups. In stock form it's a 4bbl 350 rated at 165hp. Chances are good that the casting number will be 3970010 or 3970014.
