engine install ?s

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Im putting a 350 with 250 HP crate motor in a 65 nova SS. Do I want to use a 6 3/4 or 8" damper? Is it safe to lift out and install motor with aluminum intake by the intake? Any thing else I need to Know? Thank You In advance. Jim

i wouldnt suggest lifting the engine by the intake.there are holes in the sides of the block that you can screw a bolt into and lift the engine with.

I use the intake bolt holes in the heads with a chain bolted to them. Use longer bolts with washers between the bolt head & the chain.

Jum,

The damper is usually based on the engine design. Beings it is a crate motor with little added hp, I would stick with the 6 3/4" damper. If the motor came with 350 horse, or it had been designed for much higher hp, then you would look for the larger damper.

Most engine blocks have empty lift holes at the front left corner and the rear right corner of the block. You should use these holes to properly lift your motor.

Good Luck!
