Engine mounting

I am trying to install a 350 from a 1975 Monte Carlo onto the cradle of a 1970 Camaro. I'm using the motor mounts from a Camaro 350. The Camaro motor mounts align separately with the holes in the engine brackets and separately with the Camaro cradle, but when fastened to the '75 MC engine brackets first, the mounts do not align with the cradle holes. I assume that the brackets on the Monte Carlo engine must be switched to the brackets for a 350 Camaro. The attached motor mounts would then align properly with the cradle holes. Is this a correct assumption?

Get the proper mounts and supports for it, Or well depending on your ability you could always drill/weld and make the monte stuff work, But IMHO you need to get the proper parts to make the job easier for you, JMO

what style mounts and brackets do the 70 use?

clamshells? or the old style?

ive never looked or seen a 70 car sbc in my life, too rare, so i dont know

but i know that the clamshells there are two different ones you gotta be careful....

some are slightly larger distance from block side to cross bolt hole..

hard to tell unless you know how to look at them..

some even use a flat 1/8" spacer between block and bracket.....

some big vans and some '80s cars mostly.. such as the F bodies.. i have some around... and i have both large and small clamshell brackets around too..

need pic? measurement? lemme know,,

Another consideration might be in play here. There were two styles of mounts used on SBCs, one was short wide mount, and the other was a tall narrow mount. The best info I can see on this at the moment is a web page on Energy Suspension's site here:

Look down at the diagram about halfway down the page.
