engine mounts on a 65 nova

hey everyone. I have a question regarding the motor mounts on a 65 nova.

The car has a straight 6 cylinder and I am soon getting a 327 to replace the 6 cylinder. I have heard that the engine mounts will need to be moved back to allow room for the 327.

my questions are, is the moving of the mounts required? will the straight 6 mounts work or will i need to get new ones?

thank you.

Alex

The 6 cylinder frame mounts will not work with the V-8 engine. Use part # 01007 from Chevy II Only. The trans crossmember will also have to be changed as well as the radiator. The oil pan will have to be changed as well. Go to Chevy II Only and you can search online at that site for the parts you will need. They also have a complete kit for the V-8 installation.

My son is doing the same conversion on a '65 Chevy II wagon. Good luck and ENJOY!

65 Belair - engine swap

Frisco,
I am getting ready to do the same thing on a 65 Belair. That is, swap a 6 for a SB chevy. Do you know what has to be changed on this car? I believe they are different frame/body styles. The Belair is a B-body and the Chevy II a X-Body?
Any help would be appreciated!
Ed

i'm Going to Doing A V8 Swap in a 63 Nova, I'm Prob Going To be using a V8 Conversion Kit. Butt I would Love To Go With a Mustang II Frontend outa a Mustang Donor Car Or Go With A Mustang II Kit like TCI or http://www.streetrodparts.tv/nova-rear.htm I Haven't Turned a Wrench Yet. But Have a Plan, I have a Nice 65 Nova 4dr That Might be My Donor Car for the front SubFrame And Frot Clip Fenders Grill Hood Ect. the 63 is 4 Lug Wheels.

I'm Prob Going With Manual Steering and Go With Front Disc Brakes and Change Steering Box From 25:1 to a 16:1 Steering Box http://www.totalcostinvolved.com/pro...Front%20Brakes Or http://nnnova.com/discbrakes.html them My Plan is a TCI 4 Link Rear Subframe http://www.totalcostinvolved.com/pro...yle%204%2DLink With a Narrowed 9" Ford With Rear Disc Brakes.
http://www.totalcostinvolved.com/pro...e=62-67%20Nova

The 4 Link Rear SubFrame with the Narrowed Ford 9" and mini tubbed is gona Happen, that work I can Do and Afford The Parts. My Plan was a 350 350Hp Range, but now i kicking around the idea of building up the inline 6 outa the 65 4dr with some performance parts, headers 3 1 barrel carbs and build up a 350th tranny and the 4 link rear subframe narrowd ford 9" then when my sons older do the V8 Swap i want this look with no roll bar & smaller tubs and a back seat and no big hood scoup the pics of the Purple one is the look i'm after, with a inline 6 would be cool imo..........

Yes, the Bel Air frame is not the same as the Chevy II front sub frame. You should be able to use standard Chevy V-8 engine mounts and the stock frame mounts for the '65 Bel Air available from your local Chevy dealer. If they can not get the frame mounts, check in Street Rodder magazine for distributors of early Chevy parts.
