Post engine for my 50 chevy

i have a '50 chevy 3/4 ton pick-up...i can get my hands on a 282, 327 and a 350..what one would be the best for it and what mods should i get to get mor hp? <img src="confused.gif" border="0">

Go with the 327 or 350, since your on a budget just start small with some bolt on goodies. A new intake, carb, cam and exaust. You should be able to get all that for under $800 and with the right setup you can have a nice little grunt.

I had a '51 half ton that I drove for 13 years with various engines: 370 Pontiac/tri-power, 327 Chevy and BB Chevy 396. If you go with a SBC, get the biggest you can. If the original engine is still in the truck, be prepared to move the steering box with any V8 conversion. I learned a lot with that ol' beast. Neat truck.
