Engine oil plugs

The oil plug under the rear main cap, how deep do you install the plug in the oil passage. SBC engine. One of your hot rod how to books had an article on it in the past, with detailed instructions. Thank you

Just deep enuf to clear the back of the bearing shell.

The plug goes into the block not the cap and I need to know how deep into the block oil passage the plug goes.

Look into the passage. Just past the large hole in the side there is a step. Below that is another step. Install the plug so the top is just past the first step.

Personally I think you posted this in the correct forum (engine) to start with because it is an engine-specific question.
