Engine oil.....ZINC

Is anyone else in the Hot Rod field concerned about the lack of Zinc in motor oil!!
I read that it has been reduced from 2200ppm down to 4-600ppm, is this going to affect things like cams and flat tappet lifters!!
What are we to use in our older engines??

That's a legitimate concern and we've beat that horse a couple times. You can get racing only oil, diesel oil (for a while anyways) or add a little cam conditioner to your regular oil.

Oil is killing our cars!

Cam break-in and zinc

oil is failing cams? no zinc phosphate ?

Very interesting read. Thanks for the info,
I still don't know which oil or additive i will be using in my fleet, all 7 of them, but in the 2000 Jag I will be using the Castrol Syntec.
I guess ignorance is bliss!!!
Thanks for the reads

No problem, you should have seen me on the IFSJA.org forum after I found out about ZDDP. I was installing my third cam for a single rebuild because everyone I knew that was using the first two cams I installed had them fail. My reaction was right out of Chicken Little! "Your cams are failing! your cams are failing!" lol!
