Is it engine problems or the tranny

I have a 74 chevy with a 350sbc. I have a 625 holley, and flowtech headers on it and a th350 tranny. I know im going to need some tranny work here real soon simply because after topping my truck with tranny fluid it still takes a good 2-3 mins for her to kick in gear. I idle her and idle her but she will not go. Then yesterday I got down on her real good. I spun real hard in first gear but by the time I got to third gear all my power completely crashed even though i was still in it, i mean total power loss. I dont think its the motor but im not for sure. Has anyone had this problem and if so is it the motor or tranny?

I really would like to with a 700r4, any suggestions

I would say the tranny is on its way out, by topping off the fluid you mean to the fill mark on the dipstick I hope. Usually when it takes 3 minutes for the tranny to engauge means the seals arent sealing real well or the pump is on its way out. Even so I doubt it will help whens the last time the tranny filter was changed?
