Engine Smokes/Rattles?

Ok I have a problem with my 350 enigine that is stock except for the cam and vavle springs and rocker arms.I just had a cam and vavle springs and new rocker arms put in it about 1 month ago and it runs fine until cruise night comes up.What I hear is a rattle on the passenger side of the valve cover sounds like it is a rocker but we take the cover of and find nothing wrong. It has good comp on both sides just can't find out whats rattling please help. Also the smoke problem we thought that it was the pcv vavle because it was sucking oil threw it so we plug the line to it up and it still smokes and has oil coming out of both tailpipes and the smoke is white if anyone knows anything let me know my mechanic thinks that is a broke piston and says I should buy 383 parts for the bottom end.Let me know something thanks.

sounds to me like its a blown valve seal or guide, or both. pull the valve cover, take the rockers off and use a spring compressor to just get the tension off the valves then see if any of the valves wiggle back and forth. they shouldnt. and if they do then you need new guides and seals on it.

White smoke means your sucking antifreeze. The rattle could have been from hydrolocking a piston. Could be a cracked head, blown head gasket or a leaking intake gasket.

Blue smoke is oil.

Whats hydrolocking a piston mean I want to know if the piston is bad. Will I have to pull the head off to find that out?It still rattles it not like it just stops you know what I mean.I just had the vavle seals replaced when we did the cam, rockers, springs.I would really like to have a cheap fix.

It basically means that your getting enough water in the cylinder that the piston is trying to compress it. Water wont compress much so you get a knock or rattle. Pull the plugs and look at them. If your getting water in the cylinder the plug will look brand new. The reason for this is because the engine is steam cleaning it.

And if you are close to hydraulic locking, there may be damaged plugs, broke pistons, bent connecting rods ...... hydrolocking sucks, hope you caught yours soon enough.
