Warrick,

The 305 had been running fine? The transmission was fine? Have you worked on wiring on maybe kick down? It could be a relay, fuse or short. Just think if you had worked on to remember if you changed something. Or dragged hitting the linkages or wiring.

Sounds like the converter is locked up. Check the signal to the switch. It may be locked all the time.

I had a problem with my cadillac 500, with a stock TH400. My problem because I did not tune it right. It would go dead in park. Another thought, I found a dirtdab clogged the ventilation on the bellhousing. It was burping AT fluid. Did you tried replacing the module?

You changed the Torque Converter and Lockup Solenoid in pan?

The ECM commands lockup, TPS & Brake switch signals are used for this also. Normally a bad Brake switch will only cause no lockup tho'. Brake lights & TCC Lockup use different sets of contacts in the Brake switch.
The Converter Clutch valve in the Trans Pump may be sticking/binding & not allowing the Clutch to disengage.

Right hole in Pump is TCC Valve location underneath TCC Solenoid.
Center hole is for Filter.
Left hole is Pr. Regulator, TV Boost & Low/Reverse Boost valves.

if its an alectrical problem causing unwanted torque converter lockup, try driving with the torque converter plug on the tranny disconnected. if the problem goes away then you have an electrical problem with it

If it's Locking up in 1st & Reverse it wont be electrical.
There's no fluid available to the TCC Solenoid in 1st or R, only 2nd, 3rd & 4th.
