engine stand

Car Craft magazine had plans years ago, I still have a copy of that. Why don't you build one yourself? That is what hot rodding is about. I sent Dane a copy, if you want one email me your address and I will see that you get a copy.

Whatever kind you get, be sure you use good grade hardware for holding up the engine. The cheap SAE Grade 2 bolts found at most hardware stores these days are too weak to be trusted with an expensive engine. Grade 5 or Grade 8 bolts can be found at some stores & are much stronger.

Tensile strength:
SAE Grade 2...............74,000psi
SAE Grade 5..............120,000psi
SAE Grade 8..............150,000psi

Could you guys reccomend an engine stand to hold an inline 8cyl? I know that the engine weighs a little over 900 pounds when fully assembled.

Hey thanks everyone I found the stand I needed and it works great. Ordered it from jegs. It was in great shape and works very well. While im sure there are much stronger stand out there this fits the price "ya get what ya pay for" and is just what I need. Holds up the 350 easily and and very solid to roll around.
