Engine stand capacity

Looking at an engine stand at the local auto parts supply store. Says it holds up to 750 pounds. Is this sufficient for a small block chevy engine? How much does one generally weigh with all the standard components?

Joe

Usually 550+ lbs.
Ive used 3 and 4 leg stands, but both seem ok for a sbc. HG

the 750lbs stands are more than enough for small blocks. I have my big block on one now. I checked standard weight of a fully assembled big block before purchasing and I think it was 685 lbs.

Only thing is there's nothing on my stand to support the motor at the front, which kind of sucks because the motor bobs up and down and it makes the entire thing really unstable.

Maybe I'll modify it.
