If the cam is new the engine cannot idle for about the first 30 minutes, engine speed varying and above 2000 rpm. A page w/info on prepping/starting a rebuilt engine can be seen here. Good luck. |
Engine break-in
There are several brands of break-in oil. ROYAL PURPLE BREAK-IN OIL, Brad Penn BREAK-IN OIL, COMP CAMS BREAK-IN OIL. I like the Royal Purple line best. After break-in they have a High Performance Street Motor Oil with a high level of zinc/phosphorus anti-wear additive.
