Engine stumbles

Just put a new Holley 670 street avenger carb on my engine.

The car runs pretty well, but I don't think it is still right and maybe someone can tell me what needs to be done.

For example:

I can hold the engine at 2k RPM and with the transmission (manual) out of gear. If I punch the thottle to wide open, the engine almost stalls.

Is this an accelerator pump problem with the carb and something I can adjust?

Or is it a timing problem?

I'm not sure and unfortunately don't know of any local shops that work on old tech engines with carbs.

well..

not sure if this will help but i had this problem after i rebuilt my own carb for the first time. turns out i COMPLEATLY messed up the gas to air flow mixture..if you bought it new that it allready has been "stock set" but depending on your motor then its not correct. i would suggest going to site and finding a customer service number. they will walk you through how to tune it properly. you float might also be getting to much gas. they will tell you how to do it step by step...hope this help
