Engine Swap

I want to do a engine swap with my 1989 chevy Camaro but not sure if I would have to put a new trans in sinse I have a V6 2.8L
engine in it now.
I have herd that I could use the same trans.
I want to put a 454 big block in my Camaro.
I f any one has done this type of engine swap it would be helpfull to now lots of info on doing that engine swap.

What transmission are we talking about. The folks here need all the details to answer your question accurately. Sounds like a fun project. Better plan on upgrading your suspension while your at it.

a chevy v-8 will not fit that trans. buy you can replace the whole trans with the v-8 trans. (belhousings and input shafts are different)

The transmition is a 700R4 with over drive.

swap

i may be wrong, but if i remember right, the 2.8 is a 60* v6, so you will have to change to a v8 trans. depending on how hot your 454 is, the stock 7004r is an ok choice.
