Engine Swap---350 Vortec

Hey guys,

I'm in the process of swapping a 350 Vortec into my 98 Chevy 3500 pick-up. The truck initially came w/ a Diesel engine. I have the complete wiring harness, computer, & fuse box for the vortec. I've been told that there are only 8-10 wires that need to be connected in order to get this set up to work properly. Does anyone have any direct knowledge on a swap of this nature??

Thanks

IDK exactly how many wires are involved. If you have the complete harness & PCM,most of that is plug n play if it's all from the same vehicle. There are other issues tho that you are gonna have to address if you haven't already.#1 bein the fuel system. You are gonna need an intank fuel pump capable of @ least 60 to 65 psi along with the proper fuel lines & wiring. The easiest thing to do is get a tail lite harness from a like model gas vehicle & swap it out.It will have what you need for plugs & wire hookups. You may need a tank or @ least the sending unit assembly. You may also have some instrument panel changes to make.If you have a tach, the diesel tach runs off the alternator & you have the glowplug circuit you may have to bypass or work around.I'm not positive, but,I think the diesel TC is different than a gas & there are some differences in transmission valvebody calibrations. You may have changes there to make as well.
