Remove old engine, installation is the reverse of removal. It's a straight swap no surprises.

I think he means just take the manifold off the 289, put the plenum (or whatever kind of intake you have for the EFI) on it, and dump it in, hook up the connections just like you had on the 302.

You know the 289 is a heavier motor right?

you shouldn't have any problems bolting the EFI onto the 289, they are the same block, heads on the 289 should flow worse than the 302, but the bolt pattern and all are the same, only difference between them should be the stroke length

how much heavier is the 289 than the 302, and i believe he has cleveland heads on it with a cam or something... i can call the guy and let you guys know what he has. Also will the headers i have on the 302 go on the 289?

just checked my NPD catalog, the part number for the header for a 289 and a 302 are the same, so that shouldn't be a problem, but i would check it out as best you could before you put any money down just to be on the safe side

and this page says that only the late model 302/5.0 motors are slightly lighter
http://www.team.net/sol/tech/engine.html
which makes sense, they do have aluminum intakes and bracketry and stuff

i would think that it wouldn't be light enough to matter, especially since you'll be swapping the aluminum intake to the 289

The engines are virtually identical but I would check for threaded bosses that may not be on the 289, I know for sure there is no threaded hole for the knock sensor. Now would be the time to check while you can drill and tap an existing boss for a bolt.
