I have a 1965 ford falcon convertible. I grew up in the car and now the original owner has past away and given it to me. I have a 1988 mustang gt 5.0. I have the engines out on both , but the falcon has an inline 6. Taking any suggestions or tips from the engines to interior. Thanks!

It depends on what you want to do. Do you want keep the Falcon original? or do you want to install the 5.0. If you choose the 5.0, you'll have to consider some front suspension changes like heavier springs, sway bars, or just go with a Mustang II front end. The brakes are drum on front and you'd probably want to go with disc since the 5.0 will give you some power and you'll want to be able to stop. The 5.0 will fit in but will be tight. The falcon did not come with a large engine compartment. The rearend is not going do well with a 5.0 either and should be changed out to at least an 8 inch Ford rearend (what Mustangs came with.) You'll want to try and keep the front lug pattern and rear pattern the same so you don't have two sets of rims as well. You'll need a bigger radiator and updating the master cylinder for braking. You'll want to go with a C4 transmission with the 5.0 as well. Don't want to scare you, but these are some things you'll have to consider with going from a straight 6 cylinder to a 5.0 engine. '65 Falcon was offered with a 289 V8 so all the parts from a '64-'65 289 car will swap over... rear end, spindles, steering box, springs, ect are all nessasary for the swap.. you can save some money by doing a Ford Granada front disc swap and that will give you disc brakes and the spindles are good for a V8, and the 8" Ford from a Maverick. but you will need a V8 steering box... Dearborn classics has motor mount adaptors so you don't need original V8 pedestals...

I'm a 6cyl guy, so I would just buy a 250 from a Granada, bolt it in with the matching trans and have fun

The 65 Falcon is a 65 Mustang in a little different sheet metal. Anything that fits the 'stang of the period can be fastened to the Falcon right down to the window glass if it's a 2 door and the windshield and rear light if it's a 4 door.
