Engine thermometer install

I'd like to place this temp gauge in my intake manifold.

http://www.jegs.com/p/JEGS/750805/10002/-1/10339

The manifold (Professional Products Crosswind) has threaded 1/2" NPT holes in front and back. I screwed in a brass 1/2 X 3/8 pipe bushing reducer in the hole and it sticks up 3/8". Do you think this will effect the gauge's accuracy?

Nope, it should work the same. However, I would run it to the cylinder head, this is where all the action is, combustion, heat, etc. So I would run it to the head for better accuracy. But this is just me.

Are you using it to check the gauge on the dash?
Look into Mr gasket rad. caps that have a gauge built into it, it will tell you it is HOT and to what degree.
