engine-trans-rear end combo

I am building a 30s hot rod.I will be running a free breathing Chevy 327 ie: 650 cfm carb and a Edelbrock manifold with headers and ported and polished heads.I bought a Camero rear end I believe has gears around 2:56..what non-computer trans in automatic should I run for easy freeway driving? I dont plan on drag racing or burning off out of the hole..an answer would be appreciated.

Camaro has no e in it.

With that gear you do not want an over drive transmission. A TH350 would be as good as anything. If you went to about a 3.42 or 3.73 gear you could run an over drive transmission. The 700R4 can be built to work correctly without an ECM.

With the 3.42 or 3.73 and 700R4 the car would be quicker because of the extra gear. The TH350 and 2.56 would be just fine if you just want something to drive around and not worry about it being quick.
