I'm new to all this and once again I managed to find another hotrod builder to rip me off. Anyway, can anybody tell me what motor will bolt up to a 4L60 transmission? Can you share some the specifics of what to ask for when i go to buy one.

Any Cheby V8 and the V6s made from V8s and the big inline 6s will attach without an adapter. Now if you want an adapter in there, anythings fair game.
Those from behind V8s are internally beefier than those behind a 6. It's kissing cousin is the 700R4, it went thru a painful teething process, get the 90 to 92 models unless your willing to ship it to a performance rebuilder and have it gone thru and updated.

4L60 is the 700r4 non electronic control 92/93 and older

87-up are good strong updated ones

[if its got the v-8 90 degree pattern bellhousing then it will fit 4.3L, iron duke, all v-8, and L-6 engines, as already noted
