If anybody out there is a guru on how I can hotrod my 326 Pontiac engine, which, unfortunately, has 2bbl heads on it, please email me with some cam specs, head options (if any) and what kind of HP i can expect. i'm leaving it stock short block wise cause it's only got 35K on it. Please don't tell me I have to get a 455 unless it puts out twice the power. i'm at bullheimer, yahoo!!

I have a 326 in a 65 tempest convertible with the 2bbl heads (which are 9.0:1 by the way, the 4bbl heads were 10:1 in 65). It has been bored .030 over and has a slightly radical cam. I did not do the motor so I'm not sure what the cam numbers are. I also have an Edelbrock Pontiac Performer intake, a Holley 650 carb, headers, HEI ignition, 350TH tranny with street/strip shift kit and a 12 bolt 3.26:1 posi out of an Olds 442. I have never run it at the track, but its NOT a real screamer. It will smoke the tires with a little help from the brake, and it will catch second gear scratch. It sounds awesome and obviously runs better than a stock 326, but I am always looking for a deal on a 400 or 455! If you have a good bottom end already and want to pump it up, you may want to find a good set of the high compression 6X heads. Carefull though, because they made the 6X's in 2 different chamber sizes. Don't remember what the 4bbl head casting numbers were for the 326 right off, but this is a good link for Pontiac stuff. http://www.performanceyears.com/cgi-bin/ubbcgi/ultimatebb.cgi
