Entry level stick welder?
I want to get a stick welder and am interested in the Lincoln 225. Is this a pretty good starting point? I'm new to stick welding , have had a mig (110v) for years and want to move up a level.
Thanks Mike |
There have been more people start out on those Lincolns than anything else and you simply can't go wrong with one! However when you buy it spend the extra money for the AC/DC version because it is infinitely more useful and an AC only machine is quite often a PITA to use besides being somewhat limited in it's abilities.

I will get that one then. I saw the regular one at Lowes. Figured I'd ask before the purchase.
|
Try it on both AC and DC and you will see why the DC version is more useful, especially with low hydrogen rods like a 7018.
|
Any thoughts on which AC/DC machine; Lincoln 225 or Hobart Stickmate LX235?
|
There's a saying, everybody's got a Tombstone :D
Hard to go wrong with the AC/DC Lincoln, about as simple as it gets inside, the only thing simpler is the AC only version. Either one would be fine, personally - I'd take the Lincoln |
Definitely the Lincoln.

definitely Lincoln.. my grandfather has an A/C 225 that is better than 30 years old and it's still going strong.. welds really good too.

Just ordered the Lincoln from Home Depot online. Free shipping
Thanks for the advice!!! :) |
