Epoxy Primer Over Lacquer
I stripped off a coat of red lacquer from my 1979 MG . Under that I found the original light blue lacquer paint. There is some Bondo on some areas and also some areas where the bare metal is exposed. I'm planning to re-coat with a Base Coat/Clear Coat Urethane. Should I paint over the old paint ? If I do so, could I use Epoxy Primer over the old lacquer paint?

Thank you for any help.

I would seal the old finish with epoxy primer/sealer. The polyurethane will not attack the lacquer like lacquer attacks enamel. But it's a good idea to seal everything under your new base coat.
