Epoxy primer as sealer

There is two mixing ratios on the can for use as a sealer. One is VOC sealer 4 parts epoxy 1 part catalyst. The other is conventional sealer 4 parts epoxy 1 part catalyst 4 parts urethane reducer. My question is why two ratios and which would be the best to use ? Thanks in advance for an answer, Spanky

I THINK that the one without the reducer is for general primer use and the one with reducer is a sealer. What kind of Primer is it IE ppg, restoration shop ETC.????

Voc will be how it should be mixed to stay in compliance with epa air quality regulations, we have higher solids paint today and lower solvents, with a move toward waterborn coatings, or things like acetone substituted for reducer.

The second ratio with the reducer is the one I would use, if shooting it as a sealer coat and not planning on sanding. It will likely lay out better and flatter.

this is correct. the reduced ratio is for a sealer before paint.....
