Epoxy primer as a sealer ?

I know the usual method is epoxy as a 1st coating and then all repairs are done subsequently but......

would using epoxy on a grp body that has had extensive body filler repairs done act as a sealer before 2k primer ?

My thinking is it will help to stop any shrinkage

If you have done a good job of blocking your filler and the body is now straight you can seal with epoxy and then proceed with the base..not further priming and blocking is not necessary..one part of theepoxy sealer is making a good seal and the other part is that no extra material need be pruchased..

I have tried most all of it and now do what is known to work..

Yes, epoxy will do a perfect job under the 2k primer as a sealer coat. Just be sure to follow the tech sheet in re-coating over the epoxy and flash times.

Shrinking over filler comes from leaving to coarse of a sand scratch in the filler, or not laying the primer over it wet enough. You want to prime over no less than 80g scratches...a lot of people will say 180/320g. WET the first coat and let it FLASH GOOD, especially if the primer calls for reducer! 1st coat of primer is very important. You want it wet and consistent but not running off the panel.
