ok i was contemplating a advance lockout for a while and i finally tried it tonight and it didnt seem to work out like i thought it would i zip tied the advance plate to full advance then set the total timing at 28 but if you do a lockout that means no matter what rpm your at whether you raise rpm or lower it the timing mark should not move when checked with a timing light ...correct?
well my timing mark was moving when i checked it also at idle speed that car was kind of missing the idle on the tach was booucing between 950 and 1030 fast
i dont know it it relavent but here some other info ...
i just picked up an a/f gauge this week installed it and saw that my idle mixture was so lean it wouldnt register a number even but the car at idle at this point was making 18 in. hg at 1000 and at 20 deg adv
so i richened it up to bring the mixture at idle to 12.5 a/f and i brought the timing down because the car has a blower and i have to watch out for excessive total timing brought the timing down to about 15 deg now the car idles and make only 12in. hg
so confused i adjusted the engbine to make everything textbook correct and the car doesnt make the same vacuum this is when i changed my plugs and saw they were wet and smelled like a lot of gas
so what do i do do i lean it back out so my idle is really lean or doe i keep rich to the point where my plugs are wet and what do i do about my timing and vacuum issue could these problems all be related
please help me
