ESTCM query

Thank you for your help/education.

I have an '84 Chevy F/S Blazer. I put a new engine in it. same cid. But we modded a 305 with a cam, pistons, heads. internally balanced. The new block has a 1 piece RMS.

With the OEM setup, the engine would start fine, turn the key and it would fire up. A little bit *****y in cold weather, though.

With new engine: first start in the morning, i have to lay on the starter. doesn't matter if i stomp the gas pedal or not. The starter will run for more than 30 seconds before ignition.

New engine, same OEM ESTCM and distributor.

I have a feeling the computer bits are confused.
Knock sensor and dizzy are connected to the box.

Should we just 1-Wire this?

I really think the crap computer is the crap.

I'm a little confused. In '84 the full sized Blazers were carbureted, so what year is the computer you are using? Does the computer match the engine and all the sensors that are installed?

The OEM computer settings may not match your new cam and whatever else is different about the new engine. I also don't know how this GM system works to richen the cold start mixture, but many injected cars have a cold start injector and/or cold start valve, and it sounds like yours is not working.
