Post Estimating the Value of a Model A

Got a friend whose sister has a farm in Ohio with an abandoned Model A sitting in the corner of an old barn. Body is good, upholstery shot, drive train unknown. Any advice on how to establish what a fair price would be very helpful if I get as far as negotiating a deal.

a coupe will be worth around 2 grand, sedan about half that. check out the gold book car guide, most books stores carry them, they have a good description and how to price.

in my area the price of a model A is a little low.it seems the reason is most rodders want a little more room. a fully restored A recently sold for $7000. the guy was a little upset,he spent over 15000 restoring it. thats right, seven g`s after spending 15 g`s. check out what it needs before you make an offer.
good luck, let us know what happens.

Depends on what it has in it and what the guy is going to do with it. If it has the Flathead V8('32 and on) you will get a fair amount, a few grand and if it has the 4 cylinder ****ty job (before '32), then it won't get much. I wouldn't take the Flathead out of a car to put a smallblock in just because I like originality in that case. If it had the ****ty 4 cylinder then go for the small block like I did with the 30 panel van that I have in restoration. Autotrader.com will give you a good idea of what something in the condition of what you have will get. You could always pay the 4 bucks to pick up a paper copy the next time you go to a gas station. I'm thinking no more than 2500 for the Flathead and no more that 1500 or less for the 4 cylinder earlier model.
