Ets Light--'96 Buick Skylark

My wife and I just scored a '96 Buick for decent cash. However, it has a couple of minor sensor (anyhow we hope it's just sensor) problems. It has a light on the dash that just reads "ETS". Could anybody please tell me what the heck it means. The car has the 2.4 twin cam engine and a 4 speed automatic trans. All the fluids smell fine and it runs great. I just haven't ever really got into working on the '96 and up cars, so I don't have the new code scan equipment.

Thanks in advance, Chet.

ETS stands for Enhanced Traction System.. sounds like a traction control problem.

Since it's a '96, you are lucky enough to have ODBII. OBDII has alot better self-diagnostics, and universal error codes. This means you can take it down to Auto Zone and have them scan the computer for an error code. If there is a code, that code can be looked up to tell you which sensor is out of range, or bad.

It's funny now, the dang light stayed off all day.. 'till we just pulled into the driveway. And then it came on. Autozone will be my home Tuesday.... Thanks guys.

In a while, Chet.
