Why are you using lacquer primer? Most will agree that it's old and outdated with 2k and epoxy primers that we have today.

Scrot you have worse problems to worry about with lacquer primer as your surfacer... You would be far better off using kirker, marhyde, montana, northstar, transtar etc Urethane primer surfacer... Those are dirt cheap and not the best by far, but they are tons better than anyones lacquer primer

Better listen to what these guys are saying, I was still using lacquer primer when I came here because I simply did not know any better. The only thing I can see using lacquer primer for now is if it is used for a guide coat but there are better products for that. Why would you use such an outdated inferior product under a modern paint system? And it is just that, a system that requires compatible components of which lacquer should play no part.

Nothing like a good Epoxy primer. I've used the Omni line of PPG with good results for what it costs. I also seen some pics of a fellow member evill which he sprayed Southern Polyurethane's black epoxy primer on his 911 Porsche project. Here is the link if it works.
My 911 Project Using the black I think would be a good idea because it looks like it would show imperfections better. I don't think the SPI is real expensive either. |
